(Edison) – Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak will be hosting a District Pet Contest for all residents of the 18th Legislative District on the eve of the Super Pet Exposition in Edison and “Meet the Breeds” Competition hosted by the American Kennel Club this weekend. Residents are encouraged to send a picture of their favorite pet, name, hometown, and fun fact to the Assemblyman’s Facebook page before Sunday February 10th.
“We are fortunate to have wonderful events throughout our District just like this weekend’s Expo which highlight the pets that bring joy to our community. For the past few years, I’ve been selected as an Honorary Chair of the Meet the Breeds competition and I stand by their mission of responsible pet stewardship and protecting animal welfare.”
The Super Pet Expo will be held this weekend from Friday to Sunday at the NJ Convention & Exposition Center and feature over 2,000 pets as well as 150 local and national exhibitors. Additionally, experts will be on hand to discuss pet training, nutrition, and health techniques for pets.
The 10th Annual Meet the Breeds event gives dog and cat lovers the unique opportunity to meet and play with more than 100 different breeds in booths individually decorated to depict each breed’s country of origin, historical purpose/function, and attributes as a family pet. Attendees also get the chance to see the nation’s top canine athletes compete in an agility course

Democrat Robert J. Karabinchak was appointed to the New Jersey General Assembly in May 2016 and re-elected in 2017. Prior to representing the 18thLegislative District, he served the residents of Edison for 16 years, including eight as a member of the Township Council and eight prior years on the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Karabinchak served multiple terms as Council President; a member of the council’s Finance, Open Space and Master Plan committees, and is a former Middlesex County Utilities Authority commissioner.
Karabinchak is the President of Tri-Form Construction, a contracting firm based in Metuchen. He has been honored for his long-time commitment to promoting affordable housing. He is also an outspoken advocate for statewide property tax reform. He has publicly promoted changes to New Jersey’s commercial tax appeal process to prevent it from shifting a greater financial burden onto homeowners.
He has been honored by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Public Works Association for promoting essential infrastructure improvements throughout Edison.
A resident and small business owner in the Edison/Metuchen area for over 30 years, Karabinchak and his wife Linda, are the parents of three adult children, Steven, Brian and Lori.
He represents the 18thLegislative District, which includes the Middlesex County municipalities of East Brunswick, Edison, Helmetta, Highland Park, Metuchen, South Plainfield, and South River.
